At Strathbungo Dental we are pleased to offer both anti wrinkle infections (aesthetic injections) and Dermal fillers treatments as part of our facial aesthetics.
Aesthetic injections are used to relax muscles around your face and prevent the formation of lines/ wrinkles on function. This is most commonly used to treat lines around the eyes whilst smiling (crows feet), frown lines around the eyebrows or wrinkles in the forehead that occur when raising the eyebrows. The amount required will depends on the number of areas being treated, the severity of the lines and also the patients wishes.
Dermal fillers is the use of injections to help restore volume to the face and diminish any lines that are present at rest. Often this is used to treatment folds that occur between the nose and edge of the mouth (nasolabial folds), those that occur between the edge of the mouth and the chin (Marionette lines) but it can also be used to add volume to the lips to improve their profile. Yes. Over a period of months following treatment movement in the muscles being relaxed will gradually return. The speed this happens depends on various factors including whether the patient has had treatment before and how strong the muscle is. However your clinician will discuss this with you in more detail before treatment.

Yes, eventually your fillers will dissolve harmlessly over time; however this usually takes over a year to occur. Additionally some patients will require greater volume than others so you might find that at your review appointment following treatment you require additional filler to reach your desired outcome.

During treatment there is usually mild discomfort for a few moments however our clinicians will often use a topical anaesthetic to minimise this.
